Google just launched a new website for India, dedicated to COVID-19. It is available in English, Hindi and Marathi as well to provide viewers with authentic information about the deadly pandemic. As of now, the nationwide lockdown has been extended till 3rd May 2020. The numbers are rising and so are the efforts of different individuals and organisations in coping with the quarantine.
Ways Google Is Helping India Fight Coronavirus
Google has listed tons of new ways in which it is helping our country fight the deadly outbreak,
- Through its various verticals: GoogleMaps, Google Assistant and Search Apps, the search engine giant is providing information on food and night shelters across India. So far, around 1500 night shelters have been spotted through 30 cities. While navigating through the 3 primary languages, the company is also sorting ways to include more languages.
- It is tackling misinformation by only allowing recognised portals in publishing news. Only top results from the Union Health Ministry and international organisations will show up in the search box if you look up ‘coronavirus’ on Google.
- A new shelf has been introduced through YouTube that has sought help from audio-visual media to inform people about coronavirus. Any negative videos discouraging people to not seek medical help during these uncertain times are being taken down by YouTube.
Keep you close ones safe to fight through the COVID-19 pandemic.
