Duolingo Appoints Glance’s Abhinav Kohli As Senior Marketing Manager- Duolingo English Test

After being associated with Glance as Senior Marketing Manager for the last three years, Abhinav Kohli has now joined Duolingo in a similar role to lead the company’s Duolingo English Test (DET) brand in the country.

Taking to LinkedIn to announce the same, he mentioned, “He made me an offer I could not refuse! Was planning on a break but I got a letter from an 🦉 (Owl). Would have liked it to be Hedwig, but Duo is kind of cute though (once you get to know him). Well, while I’m here with him, happy to share that I’ve joined Duolingo English Test as the next senior marketing manager in India. I am looking forward to working closely with the young generation of students looking to study abroad and building the DET as an ally that looks out for them.”

“I am also very pleased to be working again with Tara Kapur and many congratulations to the entire team for the inaugural Study Abroad Fest with DET in Hyderabad! It was a thrill to hit the ground running on D-1 with the perfect amalgamation of the student community, key opinion leaders and an exciting festival agenda. P.S- Do not cross Duo. He will not like it if you don’t complete your lessons on the Duolingo app!” he added.

Prior to joining Duolingo as Senior Marketing Manager- Duolingo English Test, Kohli was responsible for increasing Glance’s awareness through top-of-funnel campaigns and improve engagement by creating impactful consumer experiences as part of a similar role at the company.

Between March 2021 and September 2021, he was working as an Independent Consultant to news organisations and publishers, as part of which he worked upon branding and partnerships for upcoming expansion projects for a national news channel as well.

Prior to that, he was associated with Netflix as Manager- Marketing Communications and Publicity for a period of more than two years, starting October 2018. In his tenure at the SVOD streaming platform, he worked with the marketing team that built and executed the brand GTM strategy and grew the subscriber base through a sharp focus on local Indian original content.

From July 2016 to October 2018, he also worked with Star India as Manager- Product Strategy (Star Sports), as part of which he worked on expanding the base for the company’s major properties like Indian Premier League, ICC Champions Trophy, Pro Kabaddi League and others through strategic integrated marketing initiatives.

In the past, Kohli was also associated with RSportz, International Judo Federation, SportAccord, International Ski Federation, JK Tyre, Sony Entertainment Television, Inx News, TV Today and World Sport Group.
