Yash Raj Films has planned to enter the microdrama segment as it has sought to strengthen its digital footprint and engage audiences directly through a new consumer-facing app.
As per media reports, the production house has been expected to invest nearly Rs 150 crore over the coming years to create microdrama content and develop a direct-to-consumer platform for distribution.
The move has signalled a strategic shift toward short-form digital storytelling, alongside its established focus on theatrical film production.
The new vertical has been led by Akshaye Widhani, Chief Executive Officer of YRF. Saugata Mukherjee has also joined the company to oversee creative development across streaming projects, films, and microdramas.
