Vietnam-based Green SM has entered India with the launch of Green SM Limo, a fully electric taxi service operating initially across Delhi-NCR. The company will deploy the seven-seater VinFast Limo Green EV and offer app-based bookings, aiming to expand access to sustainable mobility while creating employment opportunities and strengthening its presence in global markets.

Vietnam's Green SM Drives Into India With All-Electric Taxi Service In Delhi-NCR

Vietnam-based Green SM has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of Green SM Limo today, its all-electric taxi service. The company commenced operations in New Delhi on World Environment Day, making India its fifth international market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Green SM’s India entry brings its fully electric mobility model to one of the world’s largest ride-hailing markets. The company will initially operate across key Delhi-NCR locations, with plans to gradually expand its footprint based on customer demand.

At the heart of the service is the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater electric SUV developed specifically for mobility services. It is intended to cater to multiple use cases, including routine commuting, airport rides, family journeys and corporate travel.

What Green SM has built, in a relatively short span, is worth pausing on. Founded in Vietnam in 2023, the company has moved with uncommon speed. In just about three years, the company has expanded into four international markets, each characterised by distinct regulatory frameworks, consumer behaviours and infrastructure landscapes.

The core of that model is straightforward: a fully electric fleet, professionally trained drivers, and a service standard that the company calls “Ride 5 Star.”

How Green SM Stands Out on the Road

Every vehicle in the Green SM fleet is a VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater fully electric SUV built specifically for premium passenger transport. The choice of vehicle is not incidental. It signals that Green SM is going after the quality end of the market, and betting that there is a real, underserved appetite for a consistent ride experience in Indian cities.

The driver partners are trained not just in road safety and electric vehicle operation, but in customer service. Each one is meant to embody what Green SM describes as its five values:

  • Safety
  • Dedication
  • Professionalism
  • Honesty
  • Responsibility

That kind of language can sound corporate on paper. The test, as always, will be on the road.

The vehicles themselves are equipped with drinking water, wet tissues, and basic amenities, small touches, but ones that reflect a considered approach to the passenger experience. More significantly, every Green SM Limo carries the company’s Secure-to-Safe system, which is a combination of interior and exterior cameras, AI-powered monitoring technology, and emergency support buttons accessible to both the driver and the passenger.

Riding Into India

During the launch ceremony, Nguyen Van Thanh, GSM’s Global CEO, made a sharp observation about the Indian market, wherein he said, “This is the first time a green mobility company from Vietnam has come to one of the most dynamic countries in the world. India is a land of deep history, a strong economy, and a powerful desire to grow.”

This reason is precisely why Green SM has chosen India to plant its flag next with a ceremony at Bharat Mandapam. The ceremony drew between 500-600 attendees, including government officials, business partners, employee representatives, and diplomatic guests, including representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam in India.

It opened in the traditional manner, with a lamp lighting, before Thanh delivered the welcome address.

Setting the tone for the launch, he added, “I believe the strong friendship between Vietnam and India will continue to grow, beginning new ideas, shared values, and lasting partnerships between our two nations. India is a country where big dreams come to life. And today, Green SM is proud to become a small part of that story.”

The dignitaries who followed set the tone for what Green SM clearly wants this launch to signal: institutional credibility. Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana’s Minister for Industries & Commerce and Environment, addressed the gathering, as did Dr. Virinder Sharma from the Commission for Air Quality Management, a presence that underscored the regulatory and environmental dimensions of the entry.

Building Local Partnerships

Another core aspect of the ceremony’s energising experience was the MoU signing. Five Indian companies came to the stage as founding members of what Green SM calls its Green Alliance Frontier, a global platform for businesses aligned with sustainable development goals.

The signatories read like a cross-section of the Indian travel and mobility ecosystem: MakeMyTrip (represented by Senior Vice President, Mayank Chopra), MoveInSync (represented by Co-Founder and CEO, Deepesh Agarwal), Routematic (represented by Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kavitha Ramachandragowda), Ixigo (represented by Vice President, Karan Arora), and TBO.com (represented by Vice President, Nipun Bansal).

That lineup matters. Collectively, they touch millions of daily commuters, corporate travel desks, and leisure travellers. Bringing them in on day one suggests Green SM is building for scale from the ground up. The Green Alliance Frontier, in this sense, is as much a strategic signal as it is a partnership programme. It tells the market that Green SM intends to be a platform, not just a fleet operator.

What’s on Offer

For now, operations begin in select parts of the Delhi NCR. Customers can book through the Green SM app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play, via hotline, or by flagging down a vehicle in operating zones.

To mark the launch, the company is running a 50% discount, capped at Rs 250, on app bookings through June 11th, 2026.

The bigger question, whether Green SM can translate a polished, well-connected launch into durable traction in India’s famously unforgiving mobility market, will take longer to answer. But the company as an operator has already navigated four international expansions, built a recognisable service identity, and assembled a fleet and driver network capable of delivering on its promises.
