In a recent announcement, Instagram revealed upcoming safety tools designed to shield creators from unwarranted interactions. The new tools aim to help creators efficiently manage fake followers and spam through automated detection. By focusing on comments, tags, story views, and fake followers, Instagram seeks to provide creators with a streamlined experience, reducing the time spent moderating their accounts.

Streamlining Interaction with Potential Spam

A new tab labeled “Potential spam” allows users to bulk delete follow requests, accept or delete them individually, or let them be automatically removed after 30 days. This feature aims to declutter followers’ lists without notifying removed accounts. Existing followers flagged as possible bots or spam will be filtered into a separate inbox.

Enhanced Spam Filtering for Tags

Instagram’s new spam filtering extends to tags, preventing posts detected as possible spam from tagging accounts until the user approves them. Users can perform bulk deletions and set posts to auto-delete after 30 days, enhancing control over their content.

Advanced Comment Filtering and Hidden Words Tool

The platform already hides offensive or spam-like comments, and the “Advanced Comment Filtering” feature promises to filter even more spam. Creators can utilize the Hidden Words tool to manage offensive message requests or comments effectively.

Limiting Interaction with Potential Bots

To further curb unwanted interactions, Instagram ensures that possible bots and spam artists won’t register as views on Stories, reducing their visibility in creators’ engagements.

Empowering Instagram Creators with Content Insights

Creators can now receive in-app notifications regarding potential policy violations or non-recommendable content. This empowers them to review and modify content that might not align with platform guidelines, enhancing overall content quality.

Addressing Long-standing Issues

Acknowledging the persistent challenges of harassment and spam across social media platforms, Instagram’s latest safety measures aim to mitigate these issues. Despite past challenges in spam filtering, the platform is committed to refining its tools for a more secure and user-friendly experience.
