Following the opening of registrations for its sixth season, Shark Tank India has launched a new campaign titled #DontBeATota, challenging the growing perception that speaking the language of entrepreneurship is synonymous with building a successful business.
The campaign highlights how startup terms such as valuation, burn rate and EBITDA have become commonplace, while questioning whether the language of entrepreneurship has begun to overshadow the fundamentals of running a business. Through humour and cultural commentary, #DontBeATota reinforces that successful ventures are built on conviction, execution, resilience and a deep understanding of business, not just familiarity with startup jargon.
At the centre of the campaign is Tota, a parrot who confidently throws around startup buzzwords in the belief that sounding like an entrepreneur is enough to impress the Sharks. The character represents the misconception that fluency in startup terminology equates to entrepreneurial capability. The campaign ultimately underscores that while anyone can memorise industry jargon, only founders who truly understand their business can build and scale it.
Over the past five seasons, Shark Tank India has played a significant role in bringing entrepreneurship into the mainstream by providing founders across the country with a platform to pitch their ideas, secure investments and grow their businesses. Building on that legacy, the latest campaign celebrates entrepreneurs who have spent years solving real-world problems, understanding customer needs and creating businesses with purpose.
Conceptualised and created by The Script Room, #DontBeATota invites founders with clarity, conviction and substance to register for Season 6, emphasising that the Sharks are looking for entrepreneurs who know their business inside out rather than those who simply speak the language of startups.

Aman Gupta, Co Founder- boAt and Founder, OFF/BEAT, said, “If repeating startup buzzwords was enough to build a business, we would all be investing in parrots. That’s the thought behind this campaign. Over the years, Shark Tank India has helped make entrepreneurship part of mainstream conversations, and that’s something we are incredibly proud of. But building a company has never been about sounding like an entrepreneur, it is about solving real problems, understanding your business inside out and showing the resilience to keep building every single day. That’s exactly the kind of founders we’re excited to meet in Season 6.”
