Reliance Jio Could Be Launching A Rs. 500 Phone To Disrupt Market Once Again

Jio has been everywhere in news since 2016 with its internet offers that have attracted audience from various parts of India. From extending offers about free usage of data to high speed, Jio has given it all to its users.

But as this offer comes to an end and at the time when its competitors can feel a bit relieved, news are in air that Jio may launch a 4GVolte phone worth Rs.500.

Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani may launch this new phone in market during RIL’s annual general meeting on July 21.

Reliance has earlier totally disrupted telecom market in India by incorporating cheap ‘never seen’ or ‘never expected’ plans in its telecom service. Due to such offers it has witnessed a whooping increase in its no of subscribers,almost 72 million within first six months of the announcement. Jio already has 112.55 million subscribers as of April 2017. That’s huge!

If you think this is enough for you to bring a smile on your face, then wait! Rumours are also there that Jio may soon launch a 4G network capable laptop with some eye-catching discounts.

Though 4G is quite popular among users now, but mostly the market trends show that 2G and 3G users still rule the chart. This might be due to heavy cost and data usage related issues. By launching this new phone, Reliance is looking to grab the 2G and 3G users in market by providing low cost plans and attractive offers. Reliance has already ordered 18-20 million phones from Chinese manufacturers and they are expected to be shipped by end of July!

“This launch can create the next wave of disruption in the telecom market,” a top executive at a rival telco told. “Not just us, but the existing players could surely lose a chunk of their low-end voice customers — most of whom are pre-paid – once this 4G featurephone is launched.”

If this happens then Reliance Industries Limited will have a strong hold in telecom market and will create another landmark in marketing strategy.
