Google Pay Brings Pocket Money Into The UPI Era With New Campaign

In partnership with TBWA\Lintas, Google Pay introduces Pocket Money, a UPI Circle-powered feature developed with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), enabling teenagers to make independent digital payments via parent-linked accounts, with real-time oversight. The campaign, featuring cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is live across TV, digital and IPL 2026.

Google Pay Brings Pocket Money Into The UPI Era With New Campaign

Google Pay, in collaboration with TBWA\Lintas, has rolled out a new campaign highlighting ‘Google Pay Pocket Money’, a feature built on UPI Circle in partnership with National Payments Corporation of India.   

The campaign plays out through a series of slice-of-life films centred on teenagers who appear self-assured in most areas of their lives, yet hit a familiar roadblock when it comes to making payments, often depending on parents or older siblings. Google Pay Pocket Money aims to bridge this gap by allowing teens to link their UPI IDs to a parent’s bank account, giving them the freedom to transact while parents retain real-time visibility and control.

Leading the narrative is 15-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose on-field confidence mirrors the campaign’s core idea. The films follow him and other teens navigating everyday moments with ease, now extending that independence to digital payments.

By grounding the story in relatable situations, the campaign underscores how financial autonomy can match the independence teenagers already experience elsewhere, all while keeping safeguards intact for parents. The campaign is currently live across television, digital and social platforms, with spots airing during Indian Premier League 2026.





Speaking about the campaign, Vasudha Misra, President – Creative, TBWA\ Lintas said, “Teenage years, whether they are spent breaking records in the IPL or going for tuitions, are usually the time when young adults get their first taste of independence. And responsibility. Pocket Money on Google Pay is a wonderful way (a parent’s PoV here) to introduce them to digital finance and handling money, while equipping them to chase their dreams.”
