Tara Kapur has been appointed Director of Marketing for the Duolingo English Test (DET) at Duolingo, taking on a global role. In this position, she has been responsible for leading global marketing strategy, scaling the test’s international presence, and driving adoption among students worldwide, while continuing to shape DET as an alternative to traditional English proficiency testing.
She has shared the update via a LinkedIn post, reflecting on her three-year journey building the Duolingo English Test in India and expressing excitement about taking the brand to a global stage. In the post, she has acknowledged her team and leadership, highlighting the collective effort behind the growth of the test.
Prior to this, she worked as India Marketing Head, Duolingo English Test from December 2022 to April 2024, focusing on establishing the test’s presence in the country.
Alongside this, she has been a Founding Member at Vitamin Stree from January 2017 to June 2023, contributing to the platform’s growth. Earlier, she worked at Netflix for three years, serving as Lead, Series Marketing from January 2022 to December 2022, Films and Series Marketing Manager from April 2021 to March 2022, and Social Marketing Manager from January 2020 to April 2021, where she handled marketing campaigns for content across formats.
Before Netflix, she has held roles at VICE Media from October 2018 to December 2019 as Manager – Syndication and Marketing Alliances and Senior Manager – Business Development and Partnerships, APAC. She has also been associated with Kulfi Collective for nearly four years, where she has worked as Head – Marketing and Communications, Founding Member, and Executive Producer and Business Development Head.
Before that she worked at Times Network as Marketing and Advertising Reporter for ET NOW and Senior Producer – Feature Shows, followed by a stint at Bloomberg TV India as Producer.
