Lockdown Extended: Know Which Activities Are Allowed & Which Aren’t Acc. To Zones

As you must have already heard or read that the authorities have extended nationwide lockdown for 14 more days. The regions have been divided into Green, Orange & Red zones. Green and orange zones can see many businesses to reopen, while only essential operations will operate in red zones. Still, there are activities that have been prohibited all across the country, irrespective of the zone. These new regulations will be applicable from May 4. Activities prohibited throughout the country till May 17

  • Travel by railway, airways, metro will continue to be restricted. However, it has been has said that the movement of some people by air, rail and road will be allowed for selected high priority purposes, and for purposes as permitted by MHA.
  • Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will remain closed.
  • Barber shops, spas and salons are still not allowed to open.
  • Gyms, malls, hotels will remain closed to avoid public gatherings.
  • Religious places/places of worship are to remain closed

What’s open in Lockdown 3.0 according to different zones

Red Zones

  • Industrial and construction activities in rural areas including MNREGA works, food-processing units are allowed.
  • All agriculture activities are permitted.
  • All healthcare services will remain functional, including the transport of medical equipments and patients through air ambulances.
  • Banks, non-banking finance companies (NBFCs), insurance and capital market activities, and credit co-operative societies will open.
  • Operations of Anganwadis has been allowed.
  • Public utilities in power, water, sanitation, waste management, telecommunications and internet allowed including courier and postal services.
  • Activities related to print and electronic media, IT and IT enabled services, data and call centres are allowed.

Orange Zones

  • In addition to activities allowed in Red Zone, taxis and cab aggregators will be permitted with 1 driver and 1 passenger only.
  • Inter-district movement of individuals and vehicles will be allowed for very few activities only. 4 wheeler vehicles will have maximum of 2 passengers.

Green Zones

  • In the Green Zones, most things have been permitted except the activities that are prohibited throughout the country, irrespective of the zone.
  • E-commerce platforms will deliver non-essential items in orange and green zones.

However, any state/UT, based on the requirement, may prohibit some of the said activities.

What’s closed in Lockdown 3.0

  • Apart from zone-wise restriction, there is a limited number of activities that will remain prohibited throughout the country, irrespective of zones. These include travel by air, rail, metro and inter-state movement by the road.
  • Running of school, college, institutions, hospitality services, including hotels and restaurants, place of large gathering, such as cinema halls, malls, gym, sports complex, social, political, cultural and all kind of gathering, religious place/ place of worship for public will continue to remain banned during the lockdown.

Additional restrictions across the nation:

Points to be noted for Public places

  • Wearing a face cover is compulsory for everyone in all public places
  • Every individual must ensure social distancing
  • No gathering of 5 or more people is allowed
  • Funeral or last rites can be held with a maximum of 20 people while ensuring social distancing
  • Spitting in public places punishable by fine
  • Consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco is not allowed in public places

Points to be noted for Workplaces

  • Wearing a face cover is compulsory.
  • All persons in charge of workplaces and transport shall ensure social distancing
  • Social distancing must be ensured using adequate gaps between shifts.
  • Thermal scanning, hand wash and sanitisers must be available at all entry and exit points and common areas
  • Frequent sanitisation
  • People above 65 years of age, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below 10 years will stay at home
  • Arogya Setu app will be mandatory for all employees
  • Large physical meetings to be avoided
  • Arrangements for transport facilities must be ensured with social distancing wherever personal/public transport is not feasible
