Bharti Airtel has approved the reappointment of Sunil Bharti Mittal as Chairman in executive capacity for another five year term from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2031, subject to shareholder approval. The decision was taken at the company’s Board meeting held on May 13, 2026, following the recommendation of the HR and Nomination Committee.
The telecom company has also approved the reappointment of Nisaba Godrej as Independent Director for a second consecutive term of five years, effective August 4, 2026 to August 3, 2031, pending shareholder approval.
According to the regulatory filing, Mittal’s existing tenure as Chairman is set to conclude on September 30, 2026, while Godrej’s current term as Independent Director will end on August 3, 2026.
The filing further stated that Rajan Bharti Mittal, Non-Executive Director of the company, is related to Sunil Bharti Mittal as his brother. It also clarified that Nisaba Godrej is not related to any other director on the board.
Bharti Airtel additionally confirmed that both Sunil Bharti Mittal and Nisaba Godrej are not debarred from holding the office of director under any SEBI order or directive issued by any other authority.
