Tarun Katial Is Now The India CEO of ZEE5

Tarun Katial has been appointed as the CEO of OTT platform ZEE5 which is controlled by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL). Earlier in April 2017, Katial was given additional responsibility in ZEEL to look after TV and digital content production. He is currently heading Big FM as its COO-CEO, Zee Magic, and Zee Ganga.

Tarun has the experience of over 2 decades in the India media industry and has been involved in marketing and producing popular shows across different genres including comedy, reality, and daily soaps. He has worked with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Star TV Network in the past. Some of his successful shows are Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Indian Idol, and Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi

Katial wants to combine technology and consumer insights to provide better shows for Indian media industry. The taste of Indian audience has changed immensely and it will be a challenge for content creators to cope up with new demands.

The main feature which makes ZEE5 different from other OTT networks is the original content which is available in 6 different languages. This will help ZEE to target regional audience in a better way. It is estimated that 20 original shows will be launched in 2018. In addition, ZEE5 is providing latest blockbuster movies.

Archana Anand has been promoted to Chief Business Officer of ZEE5 Global and she will report to Katial for the ZEE5 India business and to Goenka for the ZEE5 global operations.

ZEE5 was launched on 14th of February with the freemium pricing model in which both free and paid premium content available. Subscribers of ZEE5 will get access to the complete original content available on the platform.
