| Published on July 18, 2017

Star Sports launched first free-to-air sports channel in India which will go on air on 21st July 2017. The channel, Star Sports First will go air on DD’s FTA DTH platform Freedish.

The channel will feature sports including VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 5, which will begin in Hyderabad on July 28, 2017, BCCI domestic cricket tournaments, domestic football tournaments etc.and other games that previously were not telecasted on air.

About The Campaign

Star Sport robs in the former Indian Captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the ad campaign that says,”Star Sports First, Aana Hai First”. The few seconds ad showcases that what the channel is going to offer to the audience. The varied sports that it would feature is the aim of the campaign. Dhoni asks people that if some sport is missing from their life and then the ad runs about the various sports that it would air.

Who Said What?

A Star India spokesperson said,

“Television penetration in India has grown exponentially. We recognise that there is a very sizeable subset of this universe that is not on conventional pay TV. In the ‘Free-to-air’ content that they have access to, sports content is mostly absent and only sporadically available. It is our belief that there is, however, an eager appetite for it and that is the reason to launch SS First. We believe tens of millions of fans will be created for many different sports offerings through our content bouquet.”

This is a great initiative from the channel to broadcast these games in India nad make them more popular among masses. Domestic games, Kabbadi, boxing etc too makes our nation proud and Indian sports loving crowd too should enjoy these games except major tournaments or IPL. These would make people’s choices more varied and sports loving people now can enjoy each and every match on air!
