Sonali Malaviya Parts Ways From EssenceMediacom India As Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer

Sonali Malaviya has stepped down from her role as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at EssenceMediacom India. In this role, she oversaw strategy, data and technology, digital transformation, commerce and performance, creative futures, insights, and analytics.

She took to LinkedIn and wrote, “After a fulfilling 25+ year corporate career, I’m excited to embark on a new venture. I’m launching a new initiative to address a specific need and gap in society. More details to follow soon.”

“In the meantime, I’ll continue to leverage my passion for brands and people through fractional consulting and coaching,” she added.

She continued, “I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most iconic brands, and I enjoy helping them connect with their audiences. If you’re looking for an experienced advisor to refine your marketing and communication strategy, please reach out.”

Earlier, she was associated with Essence for five years. She joined the company in January 2018, as Vice President (VP), Senior Vice President (SVP), Google Client Partner. Following this, she served as Managing Director (MD), India from May 2021 to January 2023.

Following the merger of Essence and Mediacom in 2023, she assumed the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer role.

Previously, she was Chief Operating Officer (COO) from April 2017 to December 2017. Prior to this, she was Country Marketing Lead at Twitter (now X) for over a year.

Before joining Twitter, from May 2010 to September 2015 she served as Principal Partner, Client Leadership at Mindshare. From 2010 to 2014, she led a team that revitalised GSK’s communication strategy and drove CAGR in market share for brands like Horlicks, Boost, and Sensodyne. Furthermore, from 2014 to 2015 Malaviya spearheaded the Make in India campaign for WPP. Additionally, she managed a government-backed initiative on an international scale.

From April 2007 to April 2010, she was Group Director at PHD. Previously, she served as Director at Roy Morgan Research for over three years.

In the past, Malaviya was associated with Mediacom as Assc Media Director from February 2000 to October 2003.
