Ogilvy’s ECD Talha B Mohsin Calls It Quits; Bids Adieu To Agency Life To Pursue Filmmaking

After serving the role of Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy for close to five years now, Talha B Mohsin has decided to call it a day at the creative agency and leave behind the agency life to pursue his directorial endeavors in the filmmaking realm.

He had joined Ogilvy in July 2014 as Senior Creative Director and was elevated to the role of Group Creative Director in July 2016. It was in July 2019 that he assumed the position of Executive Creative Director at the creative agency.

Sharing his views on departing from the agency and agency life both, he mentioned, “Goodbye agency life. Hello agency people.”

“If you haven’t guessed it by now, yes this is me letting all of you know that I’ve decided to leave the chaos of the advertising life behind. It’s official. I’m quitting advertising after 22 grueling but fully worth-it years. And my stints at Leo Burnett, DDB Mudra, McCann, Contract, and Ogilvy have resulted in a few memorable campaigns I’ll always hold dear. And many more not-so-memorable ones (those are stories for another day). All those ‘lovely’ briefings, last-minute brainstorming sessions, those life-changing ideas I’d kill for, fight-the-traffic-to-reach-on-time client presentations, those zippy pre-ppms, followed by the never-ending ppms… Oh how I’ll miss it all,” he added.

Furthermore, he also mentioned, “By now I’m sure most of you are wondering what is this amazing new path for which I’ve left this superb never-say-never life behind. Well, it’s to embrace the chaos of the director’s chair. All those lovely briefings, last-minute brainstorming sessions, those ideas I’d kill for, fight-the-traffic-to-reach-on-time client presentations, those zippy pre-ppms, followed by the never-ending ppms… Oh how I’ll apparently not miss it all.”

Before joining Ogilvy in July 2014, Mohsin served the role of VP and Senior Creative Director at Contract Advertising for close to a year, starting October 2013, after working with DDB as Executive Creative Director from November 2012 to September 2013.

From October 2007 to October 2012, he was associated with McCann Worldgroup as Senior Creative Director; with Mudra Communications as Copy Supervisor from December 2003 to September 2007; with Leo Burnett as Copywriter from March 2003 to December 2003; and as Junior Copywriter at Solutions- Digitas Integrated Marketing Services from September 2002 to March 2003.

He started his career with McCann Worldgroup as a Trainee in May 2002.
