Netflix has rolled out a redesigned mobile experience aimed at improving how users discover and engage with content on smartphones. The update has introduced a simplified interface with streamlined navigation and a more visual, vertical discovery format tailored for mobile usage.
The platform has also launched ‘Clips’, a vertical video feed featuring short snippets from series, films and specials. The feature has been designed to help users browse content quickly and make viewing decisions without extended scrolling. It has included options to add titles to ‘My List’, share content directly, and explore personalised recommendations.
The rollout has begun across markets including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa, with a wider global expansion planned in the coming months. The company has also indicated that ‘Clips’ will expand to include podcasts, live programming and curated collections based on genres and interests.
“Mobile is an important part of how Netflix members stay connected to the entertainment they love. With our enhanced navigation and Clips, our new vertical video feed, we’re building on past learnings to deliver an experience designed for the way members want to enjoy Netflix on their phones: for the moments in between, to discover a new title, or a quick laugh. Our vision is to make our mobile experience as entertaining as what you watch, delivering increasingly personalized, immersive experiences for any mood or moment. This is just the beginning.” – Elizabeth Stone, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Netflix
