The placement season in one of the most reputed colleges of India- Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) has started on Friday. The big names have begun with attractive offers including packages of around Rs 1.39 crores from Microsoft and Rs 99.87 lakh annually from Uber.

“The placement season has begun on a promising note, with a large number of offers made in the first session on Day 1. We hope this momentum continues into the next session and in the days to come,” said a source from the placement department.

IIT-B considers various factors including students preference, job profile, and salary while making the list of companies to participate in the placements. The first session of placements on day 1 brought 52 job offers from 17 companies, including names like Boston Consulting Group, Deutsche Bank, Procter & Gamble, Millennium and the ITC Group. The first phase of the placements at IIT-B will continue for 2 weeks and is estimated that a total of 250 companies will attend the placement season. It is also expected that 15 Japanese companies will participate with Sony presenting the best offer for a Japanese firm.
While big companies were quick to offer the students, no start-up hired students in the first session of placements at (IIT-B) on The day was dominated by companies from finance, consultancy, software and engineering sectors.
