IIHB Powercouple List 2021; Ambani’s Top The List

The term Power couple is just about two decades old, used by a British tabloid to describe the English footballer David Beckham and his wife Posh Spice. Since then this term has been used to describe couples who are making a mark in same or different fields.

An Annual Survey by the Indian Institute of Human Brands (IIHB) has been released for the year 2021 listing power couples, and Mukesh and Nita Ambani have topped the list. In the last survey in 2019, couples from business backgrounds weren’t included in the list. But the research team was of the opinion to include them in this year’s list, and also from other avenues as well.

Thus, this year, business couples were made a part in the findings and they seemed to have occupied top slots. Around 1362 respondents from the age group 25-40 years helped in arriving at the results.

As mentioned, The Ambani’s topped the chart with 94% on scale of the study. Second came DeepVeer- Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone with 86%. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma with a score of 79% came in third followed by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with 72%.

Newly-weds Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif came in ninth followed by Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy at tenth place. Adar and Natasha Poonawalla were place at number 11 and Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan occupy the 15th position.

Philanthropist and Wipro founder Azim and Yasmeen Premji have come in as the 16th most powerful couple in the country. Cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni with their wives are at the 17th and 18th position respectively. Anand and Anuradha Mahindra are at number 19th and Kumar Mangalam and Neerja Birla are the 20th most powerful couple in the country this year.

Mukesh and Nita Ambani ranked high on many qualities-prestigious, unique, progressive, dynamic, innovative and traditional. Deepika-Ranveer scored high on being fun, distinctive, MFEO (Made For Each Other), while Virushka topped scores on authenticity, outdoorsy, best brand and high quality. Ranbir-Alia were the most stylish couple.

The Murthys of Infosys were the most respected couple. Akshay-Twinkle are seen as the most dependable and straightforward couple.

Including couples beyond Bollywood and sports, has made the list quite comprehensive and representative. While couples from the South have been included as well, in an all-India sample none of them made it to the Top 20. However, in the South, most of them beat the national celeb couples to gain top spots. A few couples from the South that were included in the list are-Jyothika-Suriya, Namrata Shirodkar-Mahesh Babu, Ajith- Shalini, Khushboo-Sundar C, Fahadh Fazil-Nazriya Nazim, Suhasini-Maniratnam

The full list this year also features names like Subodh Gupta -Bharti Kher, Atul-Anju Dodiya, Prakash-Brinda Karat, Prannoy- Radhika Roy, Ronnie-Zarina Screwvala, Falguni- Shane Peacock, Bhushan -Divya Kumar, Sajjan -Sangeeta Jindal, Javed Akhtar-Shabana Azmi, Lakshmi- Usha Mittal, Siddharth Roy Kapoor – Vidya Balan and Saina Nehwal-Parupalli Kashyap.
