Startups are always about solving problems. Humans are exploiting nature since so many years and to a very large extent. The water levels of our rivers are decreasing and they are full of waste.
According to a report, every year, 80,00,000 metric tonnes of waste flowers are dumped into the Ganges. Due to this, the PH level of water has come to 6-8.5, which makes the water unusable for drinking purposes. Ganga is literally dying because of this. A startup called Helpusgreen is working to solve this problem by converting waste from temples and mosques into patented lifestyle products.
This startup is not only helping the cause of maintaining the integrity of nature but also helping people by providing them employment opportunities. The people working on this project mainly belong to rural areas. First of all, waste from the temples of Uttar Pradesh is collected. It is an estimate that they prevent around 7600 Kgs of waste flowers and 97 Kgs of toxic chemicals from getting into the river daily, which honestly is a good number.
After collection, it is sent to rural women, who help process the waste into beautiful looking, useful, daily use handcrafted products. The main focus of this startup is to provide people a chemical free life and clean water. The main products that they sell are organic fertilizers by the name of ‘Mitti’ and scented sticks.
We just love this idea of saving rivers from harmful wastes and making a business out of it. Do share more such startups so that we can write about them.
