Deepa Jatkar, who has been a part of WPP for the past two years and was serving the role of Chief Growth Officer at one of WPP’s leading media agencies- Wavemaker, has now been elevated to the position of India Head- OpenDoor at one of the world’s leading network agencies.
OpenDoor is a dedicated unit created by WPP in partnership with e-commerce major Amazon to innovate, collaborate and drive meaningful impact across channels and countries.
Announcing her elevation at WPP on LinkedIn via a post, Jatkar mentioned, “Excited to start the next chapter of my career journey as India Head- WPP OpenDoor. Here’s to building winning teams and driving meaningful impact.”
This development comes in the aftermath of Amazon handing over its media mandate to WPP and Omnicom in September, 2024.
Prior to joining Wavemaker, Jatkar was associated with Meta as Manager- Global Business Group and Agency Vertical from July 2016 to August 2022. As part of the same, her mandate included managing the media agency eco-system for Meta India and partnering with India’s largest media agencies to build strategic growth programs, lead the revenue function, deploy business plans to enhance operational excellence and build capabilities at scale across the partner eco-system.
Before that, she was associated with another GroupM agency- MediaCom (now Essence MediaCom) for more than eight years. She joined them as Business Group Head in April 2008 and was elevated to the role of Business Director in January 2009. In April 2010, she assumed the role of Senior Business Director at the agency and then went on to become General Manager in January 2013.
In the past, she also worked with Omnicom Group, Mindshare and McCann Worldgroup, for over two years each.
