Kazam has launched its ‘EV-Ready Ghar’ campaign to raise awareness about safe home EV charging, building on findings from a residential charging study conducted with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).
The campaign has followed a study based on insights from more than 80,000 residential EV charger installations across India, which has found that only 55% of Indian homes are ready for safe EV charging. The study has also revealed that nearly half of Indian homes have required electrical upgrades or corrective interventions to support home charging.
Kazam has introduced the campaign to help EV buyers understand the requirements for safe home charging through practical tools and consumer-focused communication.
At the centre of the campaign has been the EV Home Readiness Quiz, a digital assessment tool that has enabled consumers to evaluate whether their homes are prepared for EV charging. Users requiring assistance have also been able to schedule a professional home charging assessment through trained technicians known as Kazam Rangers.
As part of the campaign, Kazam has invited EV owners to audition for its official music video, shifting the focus from the vehicle to the importance of home charging infrastructure. The campaign has also highlighted safe charging practices, including avoiding the use of regular household sockets for sustained overnight charging.
Additionally, Kazam has reimagined the traditional Nimbu Mirchi as a symbol of an EV-ready home, using it across campaign communication to encourage consumers to prepare their home’s electrical infrastructure before adopting an electric vehicle.
Vani Vivek, AVP-Marketing, Kazam, said, “Home charging is where the EV experience truly begins, yet it’s often the least understood part of owning an electric vehicle. Through ‘EV-Ready Ghar’, we wanted to make conversations around safe home charging simple, relatable and easy to act on. The campaign combines music with practical tools like the EV Home Readiness Quiz to help consumers understand whether their homes are truly EV-ready and what steps they can take to charge safely. As India moves towards a future of 50 million EVs, building confidence in home charging will be critical to accelerating adoption. Because before India becomes EV-ready, India’s homes must become EV-ready.”
