A Sneak Peek Into Aamir Khan's Advertising Journey On His 59th Birthday

Known for his “close to best” approach to acting and having earned the titles of ‘Mr. Perfectionist‘ along with the prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards, Aamir Khan is celebrating his 59th birthday today.

As per reports, his net worth, amassed through his acting career and diverse ventures, including his production house, endorsements, commercials, real estate investments, and entrepreneurial endeavors, is estimated to be around Rs 1,862 crore.

While Khan is known for his stellar performances in films such as “Raja Hindustani,” “Fanaa,” “Sarfarosh,” “Lagaan,” “Taare Zameen Par,” “Rang De Basanti,” “PK,” “Dangal,” “3 Idiots,” and “Ghajini,” amongst others, he has also made a significant impact beyond Bollywood by hosting his very own talk show “Satyamev Jayate,” which gained popularity for shedding light on sensitive social issues in India and even influencing government actions, occasionally.

In the realm of celebrity endorsements too, there are only a few names that command as much attention and scrutiny as him. His journey in the advertising world has been a mix of successes, controversies, and ongoing debates.

But on his 59th birthday, as we delve into his advertising journey, it is also essential to note that Khan charges somewhere between Rs 5 and 7 crores for an ad commercial.

Here’s a list of some of his most iconic advertisements:

1. The Coca-Cola Company

In the world of advertising, Khan’s association with Coca-Cola, especially “Thanda Matlab Coca-Cola”, has been one of the most memorable ones as it struck a chord with audiences across generations for more than a decade’s time.

Most recently, he also featured alongside Darsheel Safary for an ad campaign for the new Strawberry Flavour launch of Thums Up Recharged for the ad campaign titled, “Mind Charged, Body Charged.”

2. Pepsi

In the good old days when “Yeh Hi Hai Right Choice Baby a-ha” was Pepsi’s tagline, Khan featured alongside Aishwarya Rai and Mahima Chaudhury in a completely adventure filled ad film.

3. Dream11

Reuniting with his co-stars from 3 Idiots, Khan featured in a slew of ads that Dream11 had rolled out for the cricket season wherein the brand showcased the uniting of both cricketers and celebrities for an ad campaign titled- “Sab Khelenge!”

4. PhonePe

Turning cop for PhonePe, Khan also featured alongside Alia Bhatt for an ad campaign comprising nine films wherein the brand showcased how the pandemic gave rise to contact-less digital payments via QR scans in offline stores.

5. Titan

In the 2000s when accessorizing wasn’t in trend, Khan redefined both style and luxury via “What’s your style?” ad campaign. It was via this campaign that the consumers understood the need for matching their watches with their attires.

6. India Tourism

Known to be one of India’s most memorable tourism ads, Khan shared both his voice and featured in the ad campaign titled “Incredible India” wherein he threw light on the two sides of India’s population- one that is making efforts to make India proud and the other which is engaging in activities that lead to shame.
