Facebook To Take On OLX and Quickr With Its New Service

Being the best social network company in the world Facebook has launched its new service named ‘Marketplace’ that will give a tough competition to OLX, Quikr, and Sulekha.
Facebook Marketplace allows users to buy and sell products with a dedicated platform. This service can be used on the Facebook’s mobile app as well as on its desktop version. This feature is already available in 36 countries, making India the 37th nation to join.

Top features of Facebook Marketplace

  • It is a complete platform for browsing, purchasing, selling and saving items for future. One can also set a price limit according to the preference and even add area radius as well.
  • Facebook Marketplace has products from many categories to choose from. Some of the main categories are electronics and computer, home appliances, clothing, and shoes.
  • All products listed on Marketplace will have basic information like the name of the product, location of seller and duration of the post.

Already many Facebook users are buying and selling used items by making public groups. A dedicated platform for this will help users to do their business in a more productive way. Such marketplaces are already popular in India with companies like OLX and Quickr who are enjoying huge success for some years now.

Mark is focussing on making Facebook more meaningful and beneficial for its users. Just a few days ago Mark had announced about showing more posts from friends and family in the newsfeed. Also, Facebook’s owned company Whatsapp had revealed a new app Whatsapp Business for giving businesses a separate identity.

This is also a big step as India’s online classifieds sector is expected to reach a massive $1.2 billion by 2020, according to a report that Google released in 2016.
