Defence Minister Slams Doordarshan For Showing Ads In Tyagaraja Aradhana

A A

Nirmala Sitharaman, Defence Minister of India criticized Doordarshan for cutting off the live telecast of the annual Tyagaraja Aradhana to show ads. She believes that showing ads in such a programme is irrelevant and thoughtless. Tyagaraja Aradhana is an annual event that is organized to honour Telugu saint-composer Tyagaraja. Musicians from across the world come together to perform at this event. Everything was going good and our defense minister was happy on the occasion she tweeted:

Now live on @DDNational #Aradhana #Tyagaraja in sweet #Telugu, sung by all. Tyagaraja’s bhakti was the longing of an earthly being to unite with his Maker who he saw in Sri Rama. Tyagaraja cared nothing about living in poor financial condition- just kept pouring out his heart.

— Nirmala Sitharaman (@nsitharaman) January 6, 2018

Nirmal’s happiness changed into anger when an ad was shown during the telecast. She again used Twitter and wrote:“Yo @DDNational what! You couldn’t wait for a few moments more for the Pancharatna Krithi-s to be completed. Advertisement and more. #Aradhana #Tyagaraja . Thoughtless, insensitive,”

Yo @DDNational what! You couldn’t wait for a few moments more for the Pancharatna Krithi-s to be completed. Advertisement and more. #Aradhana #Tyagaraja . Thoughtless, insensitive.

— Nirmala Sitharaman (@nsitharaman) January 6, 2018

This tweet started getting numrous number of replies from users. A lot of them supported the Defence Minister for this.
It isn’t a cricket match to take a break between the overs.

If @DDNational had some basic understanding of Indic thought, music, philosophy, they wouldn’t have interrupted. This indicates that the barons occupying DD have a long way to decolonize & understand India from within. It isn’t a cricket match to take a break between the overs.

From no where the advertisements pops up.

I so agree. From no where the advertisements pops up. This happens only once in a year and we are in hurry to end program

They do same thing even while broadcasting Mysore Dasara.

They do same thing even while broadcasting Mysore Dasara. @DDNational and @DDChandana are totally unprofessional.
