Snapdeal Founders Booked After A Complaint Of Businessman

Kota Police has registered a case against Snapdeal Founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal after a local Congress leader alleged that the e-commerce giant sent him fake products.

The founders have been booked They were booked for cheating under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code after businessman Indermohan Singh Honey complained of receiving a fake Woodland belt and a wallet which he ordered.

Singh had placed the order on July 17, paying online for it, police said. In a complaint filed at Gumanpura police station, the businessman said he suspected the genuineness of the product delivered at his home and took them to a Woodland showroom.

The showroom staff checked the originality of the product and found it fake. After this, an assistant sub-inspector has been assigned to investigate the case against Snapdeal CEO Kunal Bahl and COO Rohit Bansal.

Indermohan Singh alleged that a few months ago, Snapdeal did not deliver a wristwatch he ordered, while the site claimed it had reached his home. However, he got a refund after he complained.

Interestingly, on Tuesday, Snapdeal announced about raising an undisclosed amount of funding from Anand Piramal, Executive Director of the Piramal Group.

Talking about the financial results of 2018-19, Sanpdel has seen impressive growth in revenue to Rs 925.3 crore as compared to Rs 535.9 crore in 2017-18. Also, Snapdeal’s loss dropped by approx. 71 percent to Rs 186 crore in FY19 from Rs 611 crore reported in FY18.
