District by has launcZomato hed Splitpay, a new feature within its app that enables diners to split restaurant bills and settle their individual share directly at the time of payment.
The feature has been introduced to simplify bill settlements during group dining by allowing users to divide the total amount equally or customise the split based on individual consumption. Instead of one person paying the entire bill and collecting reimbursements later, each diner has been able to pay their share through the District app.
Users have been able to enter the bill amount, select the number of people in the group, and complete payments in a few steps without exchanging payment details. The feature has also offered cashback to each diner on their individual share of the bill.
To support the launch, District by Zomato has released a campaign film featuring actors Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. The film has depicted a familiar situation where friends argue over who should pay the restaurant bill. The narrative has contrasted this scenario with the Splitpay feature, which allows diners to settle their own share and receive cashback individually.

Rahul Ganjoo, CEO, District by Zomato, said, “A meal out belongs to the whole table, but it has always ended with the least social moment: one person paying and everyone else doing maths. It’s something we noticed at restaurant tables, on social media, and in conversations with our users, so we built Splitpay to fix it. It’s one more step in the same direction we’ve been moving all along: taking the effort out of every stage of going out, so the only thing people take home is the experience itself.”
