Lionsgate Play has outlined its next phase of growth, anchored by a slate of over 100 premieres in 2026 and the return of Heated Rivalry Season 2 in 2027. As part of a strategic shift, the platform will adopt a screen-agnostic approach, bringing 10–12 premium Hollywood titles to Indian cinemas ahead of their streaming debut.
Starting September 2026, select films will follow a theatrical-first model before releasing exclusively on the platform. The initial slate includes titles featuring Russell Crowe, Gerard Butler, Robert Pattinson and Mark Wahlberg. The move positions Lionsgate Play among a limited set of platforms integrating theatrical and streaming releases, with a focus on expanding Hollywood content reach in India.
The platform will continue to invest in high-profile, star-led titles across action and thriller genres. Its upcoming slate includes films featuring Jason Statham, Angelina Jolie, Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey, alongside new additions to existing franchises. In parallel, Lionsgate Play will maintain a mix of global and regional content as it looks to strengthen its positioning as a destination for Hollywood films in India.
Rohit Jain, Founder – Lionsgate Play Asia, shared, “Over the past few years, we’ve built Lionsgate Play into a destination for bold, high-impact storytelling. In 2026, we’re delivering on that vision at full scale, with 100+ premieres, returning franchises, and now, the big screen itself under one roof. Our move into theatrical-first releases marks an important step, giving films the cinematic scale they deserve while ensuring a seamless journey to streaming.”
He further added, “As the industry evolves, we’re embracing a more integrated approach across theatrical and digital windows. This next phase is about backing stronger stories, collaborating with compelling talent, and building a platform audiences keep coming back to. From big screen experiences to premium streaming, this is our most ambitious chapter yet.”
