Cadence has appointed Dr. Alok Jain as Managing Director for its India operations. In his new role, Jain has been tasked with leading the company’s strategic growth in the region, with a focus on scaling operations, driving innovation, and strengthening partnerships across government, academia, and industry to support India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Jain has been associated with Cadence since 1997 and has most recently served as Vice President in the System Verification Group (SDA). Over the years, he has played a role in developing the company’s Noida operations and has contributed to delivering verification solutions globally. His experience has spanned over 35 years in the industry, covering engineering leadership and technology innovation.
India has remained a key market for Cadence, with over 30% of its global workforce based in the country. The India teams have been involved in core R&D and product development, contributing to the company’s global innovation pipeline. Cadence has also been consistently featured among India’s Best Companies to Work For by the Great Place to Work Institute for over a decade.
The company has established its presence in India since 1987 and has contributed to building the semiconductor ecosystem through partnerships with government bodies, academic institutions, and industry associations. It has worked with institutions such as MeitY, AICTE, IITs, and over 400 colleges to develop a chip design talent pipeline. Initiatives including Chips to Startup (C2S) and AI-led design programs have further strengthened its role in advancing India’s semiconductor ambitions. Jain has been expected to play a key role in driving these initiatives forward.
