Vivek Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of the Sanmarg Group, has been elected as the president of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for the year 2025–26. He has succeeded M V Shreyams Kumar of Mathrubhumi.
The election has taken place at the 86th Annual General Meeting of the Society, which has been held virtually. Gupta has become the first president from eastern India to helm the organisation in 32 years.
Karan Rajendra Darda of Lokmat has been elected as Deputy President, while Tanmay Maheshwari of Amar Ujala has been chosen as Vice President. Anant Nath of Grihshobhika has been appointed as the Honorary Treasurer, with Mary Paul continuing as the Secretary General of the Society.
The Executive Committee for 2025–26 has also been announced, with representatives from leading media houses including Dainik Bhaskar, Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, Anandabazar Patrika, Malayala Manorama, Sakal, Lokmat, Eenadu, Business Standard, Punjab Kesari and others.
