The life expectancy and span in India have shown a steady increase over all these years. Today, out of every five individuals, one is a senior citizen. This means, that the demand for care for the elderly has increased.

The pandemic of COVID-19 too bought to light the perils of living without families. This is especially true for the elder population of people, with no one to care for them.

However, many startups in India are providing products and services, which are making lives of senior citizens and the elderly, easier and better. Let’s check a few of them.

1.Alserv

Alserv is a Chennai-based startup focusses on providing any kind of help for those elderly and senior citizens who are living alone.

It provides services that assist senior citizens in areas of daily convenience- medical, food, security, housekeeping and concierge services.

Users can either book meals and also order groceries using their app. They connect doctors and healthcare professionals for the ones in need.

2. Seniorworld

This startup was founded with an aim to realign the lifestyles of the elderly, which usually change for the worse, making them dependent on others.

Seniorworld provides safety solutions, and user-friendly mobile phones along with offering custom-made travel plans, making users independent and keeping them busy.

3. Treat At Home

This digital healthcare marketplace connects people who are in need of medical services to healthcare experts. It was founded in 2018 in Tamil Nadu, the startup claims to have over 1500 registered service providers and more than 20 health partners around Tamil Nadu.

4. Goodhands Seniorcare

Goodhands Seniorcare provides services for elders, from the comfort of their homes.

With a dedicated team of specialists in different areas, families are notified of any changes or emergencies in their relatives’ health.

They work in areas of providing regular comfort and upholding social commitments as well, along with crisis care for the ones enrolled.

5. GetSetUp

This is an online community with participation from more than 3 million people over the world, who want to keep themselves busy, stay vital and keep learning.

The community provides socializing opportunities and undertakes various activities and programs around areas of interest for senior citizens.

Experts in various fields are invited to address issues related to senior life. Social hours are hosted and there is live learning for them on various aspects and topics.

6. Khyaal

Khyaal is another online community aimed at enriching the quality of life for the elderly.

They organize fun and interesting activities like musical events, yoga classes, podcasts, games, and workshops.

This keeps them occupied, thereby making them explore life to the fullest!

Mother Dairy is targeting a 20% increase in revenue to over Rs 24,000 crore in FY27, backed by rising consumer demand and plans to expand into new markets, according to media reports. As per media reports, the dairy major recorded a turnover of Rs 20,300 crore in FY26, up 17% year-on-year. The company has more than doubled its revenue over the last five years, crossing the Rs 20,000-crore milestone. As part of its growth strategy, Mother Dairy is looking to strengthen its presence outside Delhi-NCR. Chairman Meenesh Shah said the company is exploring entry into new markets where it currently has limited or no presence. The company is also setting up a dairy plant in Maharashtra, has leased a facility in Hyderabad, and is establishing a second plant in Bihar. Managing Director Jayateertha Chary said sales in the first two months of the fiscal have been encouraging, with ice cream emerging as a strong-performing category. Reports also suggest that from Mother Dairy’s FY26 turnover, the dairy business contributed more than Rs 15,000 crore, while edible oils and horticulture accounted for around Rs 5,000 crore. Around 63% of revenue came from Delhi-NCR, with the remainder generated from other parts of the country. The company currently reaches more than 95 cities across India and operates nine milk processing plants, four horticulture processing plants and 16 associated edible oil facilities.
