UCO Bank has assigned the additional charge of the post of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer to Rajendra Kumar Saboo, currently Executive Director of the bank, following a communication from the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
The appointment comes after the position of MD & CEO fell vacant on June 1, 2026, following the completion of the tenure of Ashwani Kumar on May 31, 2026. Saboo will hold the additional charge until August 31, 2026, or until a regular incumbent is appointed, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Saboo has been serving as Executive Director of UCO Bank since November 21, 2022. He began his banking career as a Probationary Officer at the erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce in 1994 and has held leadership roles across branch banking, treasury, international banking, digital banking, wealth management and strategic management.
Before joining UCO Bank, he was Chief General Manager at Punjab National Bank, where he headed strategic management, economic advisory, MIS and data analytics functions. A postgraduate in Commerce with an MBA in Banking and Finance, Saboo is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
