Every Independence Day, on the 15th of August, India celebrates its history, patriotism and legacy that has been left behind by those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. As India completes its 75th year of independence, everyone is left in high spirits while brands have taken this day as an initiative to address the independence that our country has still not achieved when it comes to social issues pertaining to castism, gender inequality, and many such crucial issues which have been ignored in all these years.

The theme of Independence Day this year is ‘Nation First, Always First.’ which will have brands portraying themselves in the light which brings out the patriotism and the loyalty we serve to our country. Here are a few ads over the years that have beautifully encapsulated the sacrifice of the armed forces as well as the unity with which we, as nations of the most secular country, stand.

Cadbury Unity Bar 2020

This bar of chocolate which is a combination of dark, blended, milk and white chocolate brings together all Indians residing in varied parts of the country. The packaging of the bar suggests Unity in Adversity and beautifully highlights the essence of all Indians, living together.

United Colours of Benetton 2019

#UnitedByHarmony beautifully showcases how compassion can allow individuals to co-exist in harmony, in a nation as diverse and secular as India.

Bajaj Allianz 2018

This campaign expresses freedom in a special emotion which is embraced by the LGBTQAI+ community on Independence Day. It highlights the community and showcases the sentiments that are felt by all Indians.

Vivo 2018

This campaign essentially expresses the innate fear that women feel whilst being on an empty road even from a harmless helping hand and poses the important question of how safe does a woman really feel in our country.

iD Fresh Foods 2017

This campaign highlighted the hardships that the families of martyrs undergo and made an attempt at making it known to the audience at large.
