Tata Communications has appointed Ganapathi S. Lakshminarayanan as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a five-year term effective May 20, 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
The company’s board approved the appointment based on the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, according to a regulatory filing submitted to stock exchanges on May 20. 2026.
Lakshminarayanan, also known as Ganesh, was earlier appointed as MD & CEO-Designate by the company in January 2026. He brings over three decades of international management experience spanning multinational corporations, B2B startups and Indian enterprises.
Prior to joining Tata Communications, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for India and SAARC at ServiceNow, where he led market growth initiatives. Before that, he held leadership roles at Bharti Airtel, including CEO of Airtel Business in India and CEO of the company’s Enterprise Business unit.
Lakshminarayanan holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College. He has also served on the executive council of NASSCOM and the council of FICCI.
