Story TV, the microdrama platform from the Eloelo Group, has announced a major expansion into South India, marking its largest regional content investment to date with original vertical series in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
The company said the move is driven by its belief that regional storytelling will fuel the next phase of growth in India’s mobile entertainment ecosystem. Story TV aims to create original stories in native languages, tailored to local audiences and cultures.
As part of the expansion, Story TV has committed to producing more than 1,000 original South Indian microdramas by March 2027. The platform will collaborate with writers, filmmakers, actors and creators across the southern states to develop original intellectual property in each language.
The Tamil slate features filmmakers and actors including Alagar, Laxman Kumar, Mahanathi Shankar, Kumaran Thangarajan, Jey Srinivas, Preetha Jenarthanan and Yuhani Shree.
The Telugu slate includes director Ajju, Nandi Award-winning cinematographer Om Prakash, and actors Charan Lakkaraju, Raj, Anvitha, Visalakshi, Raksha, Rohith and Monika.
Story TV said user engagement in the region has already been strong, with Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kochi emerging among its top consumption markets. Users across the southern states spend an average of 95 minutes daily on the platform.
The company’s initial South Indian slate has collectively crossed 250 million views. Some of its most-watched titles include Vaarasudu Vacchadu, Paper Wife Bathiladi, VIP Card, Billionaire Maid and Srimanthudu.
Going forward, the platform will expand its catalogue across romance, family drama, thriller, revenge, comedy and emotional storytelling, with Kannada and Malayalam originals set to roll out as part of its growing regional slate.
The South India expansion forms part of Story TV’s broader strategy to make premium vertical storytelling accessible across India’s major markets through new language offerings, original titles and regional creative partnerships.
“Entertainment has moved to the mobile screen, and viewing habits have moved with it. Audiences today want stories they can binge instantly and see themselves in their language, their culture, their world. Microdrama answers both. It is the most exciting format in Indian storytelling right now. The format has opened up opportunities for the entire creative talent community to tell richer and diverse local stories,” said GSN Aditya, Chief Operating Officer, Story TV.
“South India is central to that vision. It is home to some of India’s strongest storytelling traditions and most passionate audiences. Our focus is to build a local creative talent community, invest in original stories across languages, and raise the quality of premium vertical storytelling together. What we create here will not only strengthen our leadership in the region but also become the blueprint for how we take this category to other regions across the country,” Aditya added.
