OLA’s Co-Founder & CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal Launches Krutrim

Analysing how AI is defining the future paradigms of economy and culture and the importance for India to take leadership in the same whilst staying true to Indian cultural ethos and solving real Indian problems, Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-Founder and CEO, OLA, has launched Krutrim– India’s own AI.

Krutrim, a part of the Ola group, is an AI computing stack that is ‘AI, made in India, for the world.’

Announcing the public rollout of the same, Aggarwal took to LinkedIn to highlight that moving away from the western technologies, Krutrim marks the beginning of a new era of computing in India.

“The model is trained on large Indian data sets and is deeply rooted into Indian values with data of over 10+ Indian languages and is ready to assist in English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati and even Hinglish!,” he stated.

Currently, the team at Krutrim operates from three locations- Bangalore, Singapore and San Francisco, and represents a convergence of talent across AI research, Applied AI, Cloud Engineering, and semiconductor design.

That being said, Krutrim endeavors to deliver a state-of-the-art AI computing stack that encompasses the AI computing infrastructure, AI Cloud, foundational models, and AI-powered end applications for the Indian market.

“Our envisioned AI computing stack can empower consumers, startups, enterprises and scientists across India and the world to build their end AI applications or AI models. While we are building foundational models across text, voice, and vision relevant to our focus markets, we are also developing AI training and inference platforms that enable AI research and development across industry domains,” the company mentioned on LinkedIn.
