Google India Partners BCCI For IPL 2026, Brings AI Mode To Live Match Experience

Google India and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have formed a new partnership for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). The agreement will bring AI directly into live broadcasts with real-time data. This aims to make the viewing experience more interactive and engaging for fans watching from home.

During the matches, AI powered insights will appear on screen alongside the live action, while fans can use search to ask questions about player tactics in real time. This helps viewers understand the game in a deeper and more interactive way. The system lets fans revisit past matches and study team performances in detail. It also allows users to compare strategies, such as understanding how different captains approach the game.

The announcement also highlights that the AI can generate quick summaries of matches, pointing out key turning moments and memorable plays. The company positions this as a useful tool for fans who want to understand and study the game more closely.

Beyond live matches, Google highlights its platform will also help fans prepare for match day. Users can search for nearby venues to watch games or explore related topics like player fitness routines. Overall, the brands present this as a step towards a more interactive and connected sports experience.

Devajit Saikia, Secretary of BCCI, said “IPL has always been the heartbeat of Indian Cricket, and this collaboration with Google India to integrate AI Mode into Search will fundamentally transform the fan experience. We are thrilled to empower our millions of passionate fans with enriched and conversational insights, deepening their connection to the game they love.”

Shekar Khosla, VP Marketing at Google India, said: “IPL has always piqued the curiosity of fans everywhere, consistently dominating Google’s ‘Year in Search’ sports trends in India since 2020. Cricket fans are not just passive viewers but are active experts; they are looking for deeper insights and stories that help them celebrate their teams both on and off the pitch.”

“With AI Mode in Search, we’re excited to help fans stay connected to the game’s pulse like never before, continuing our commitment to bringing the best of Google AI to the world’s biggest sporting moments.” she added.
