According to the latest analysis by Wealth-X’s Billionaire Census, a significant 29% of the world’s billionaires, comprising 3,194 individuals and boasting a combined net worth of $11.1 trillion, reside in just 16 cities.

New York City claims the top spot, housing 136 billionaires, while other major hubs across Asia, America, and the Middle East also attract high-net-worth individuals. Notably, these top cities generally maintain stable billionaire populations, with Singapore experiencing notable growth by welcoming four new billionaires in 2022. This concentration underscores the remarkable wealth disparity prevailing globally.

According to the study authors, the global number of billionaires witnessed a 3.5% decline in 2022 due to factors such as “a new war in Europe, a generational surge in inflation, and deepening US-China tension.” Individuals associated with industries like tech, retail, energy, healthcare, and transportation experienced an average wealth decrease of over 5% during the same period.
