The Internet is one interesting place to find entertainment today without a doubt. Every day comes with something new to talk about and even teaches things we may have never heard of.

Recently, a vintage fridge from 1958 has become a point of discussion on social media. An old ad for the fridge has been making rounds on social media.

In just a few hours, the video has received over 9 million views and everyone is wondering the same thing. Why is it that a fridge that old is more advanced than the one today?

The video was shared by the Twitter handle “Lost in history” along with the note, “Why’s this 66-year-old fridge better than the one I got now.”

As soon as the video was put up, people came in bulk to agree with the Twitter user. Everyone agreed that this fridge has everything one needs and yet is not available in the market anymore.

Why did we stop making these 😭

Back when they made quality products. Things that lasted.

— ThatFlyGooner (@ThatFlyGooner) July 22, 2022

They actually manufactured quality goods back then. Made to last for 20+ years. Now everything is made to last 3 to 5 years or break right after a warranty expires.

My mother has a fridge from the 60’s. Sits outside the motel she runs. Thing still works to this day.

Many came up with theories of their own as to why we can’t find such tech today.

if it does not break , they cant sell you one every second year which mean GDP goes down

— Andouillettefries (@Andouillettefr) July 22, 2022

Two words: “Planned obsolescence”

— Ankur Jain (@ankur__jain) July 22, 2022

Reasons why these are now obsolete :
Chlorofluorocarbons/CFC’s ozone destroyers
Used a rediculous amount of power
Quite noisy 80 db
These days expensive to dispose of
Freezing box was tiny
The ice cubes were always covered in crap from above, not nice.
But apart from that, lovely
