Woman Questions Why Salary Slip Is Asked By Companies Before Offering A Job, Twitter Divided In Opinion

| Published on December 22, 2021

Applying for a job is always the number one struggle the youth face today. While there are not many jobs that are at par with our capabilities, finding a source of earning is always important.

But the entire process of finding the right job can be challenging. The plethora of questions that are asked in an interview round is sometimes too much to bear with. Many companies also have a practice of asking about your previous salary and salary slips. This is done to set a salary bracket for your profile.

There are many people who have their objections regarding this ‘unfair’ practice. Recently, a woman named Shruti Chaturvedi took to Twitter to express her outrage about asking for salary slips before making a job offer and questioned what role does the previous salary play.

As soon as the post went viral, the internet got divided into two segments. There was one set of groups who supported this practice and stated that it was necessary to ask for proof of salary slips since many people tend to lie on their CVs.

While others expressed that it was an unfair and unnecessary practice since the company already has a salary bracket to offer to the candidates.
