Yamaha India has launched the new 2018 model of its superbike MT-09 which is priced at Rs. 10.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new MT-09 has a newly developed 847 cc engine which has 3 cylinders. The superbike also consists of anti-lock braking system (ABS) technology. The customers will also get the option of choosing new funky colours such as bluish gray solid, deep purplish blue, and matte dark gray.
On the launch of this new model the senior vice-president, sales and marketing of Yamaha Motors India Roy Kurian said “Yamaha technology is known globally to offer the desired nimbleness and edge which motorcyclists seek from a two-wheeler. It is exciting to announce the introduction of the new MT-09 in the Indian market shortly after its successful run globally. The new MT- 09 will reiterate Yamaha’s commitment to offer in India the very best mix of Yamaha’s superior expertise coupled with its unique flair for innovation. The new MT-09 has been constructed with excellent rigidity balance that contributes towards the bike’s agile handling performance and power delivery.”
The company is targeting the youngsters who are thinking about moving up from 500-600 cc to an above 800 cc bike. This new model is expected to face big competition from its rivals such as Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900. Yamaha motors also revealed that this model will be imported as a completely built unit by India.
