Have you ever been to an auction? Or actually made a bid?

Well, you should, it is an experience of a lifetime. Raw emotions, mind-blowing bids and surprisingly beautiful items, many Auctions are often done for charity because they are not just honest but also easy to organize.

Still curious what goes down in the auction room? Here’s a list of the most expensive items sold at auctions over the years:

1) Movie feels

Remember the huge iceberg and a ship drowning? Remember a romance brewing that we can never forget? Well, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio made history with their movie, Titanic. One of the dresses Kate wore in the movie got auctioned for $330,000 dollars back in 2012.

2) Bag-wati

Back in 2017, Hong Kong saw an auction worth $378,074. It was for a Hermes Diamond Berkin Bag. The high price was due to the 10.23 carats of Diamonds used on the bag, the shinier, the costlier.

3) Classic Memories

Audrey Hepburn was phenomenal in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, a movie many would now call a classic. Her personal working script for the movie was stored and later sold for $811615 in 2018. She did have some special fans.

4) Beat it out

The Beatles and their famous drummer Ringo Starr used his Black Pearl Drum Set for more than 200 performances, making it a memorable part of each Beatles show. The set was auctioned for $2.2 million in 2015.

5) Good old days

With the rise in smartphone users and DSLR’s, we rarely find coinessuers who appreciate a vintage camera. A Leica camera was sold for $2.8 million in 2012, one of the only 25 pieces available in the world.

6) Out of the Cupboard

Marilyn Munroe and her charm caught all eyes back in 1962 when she performed at a fundraiser party for president John. F. Kennedy. The dress she wore back then got auctioned for $4.8 million in 2016, purchased by Ripley’s Believe or not!

7) Track of time

Recently, in November 2019, $31 million were paid for a wristwatch in Geneva. A Patek Philippe watch, it established a new record and got funding for support research.

8) Picturesque

New York saw the auction of Roy Lichtenstein’s magical piece, ‘Sleeping Girl’ in 2012. The actual sale was for more than $44 million.

9) Blue and Beyond

Don’t you think we are missing out on an important piece of auction history? It is a Jewellery. The Oppenheimer Blue which is a 14.62-carat blue diamond got sold for $57.9 million in 2016.

10) Beauty in the eyes

Jeff Koons, the famous sculpture saw his ‘Rabbit’ artwork get auctioned for $91.1 million in May 2019. He broke his own previous record of the most expensive sculpture sold by an artist.

These auctions support humanity, instills culture and bring in the money. Attending an auction isn’t just about the fun, it is a strategy, networking, and knowledge.
