| Published on March 11, 2019

The General Elections, 2019 will be held in a span of around one and a half months, tentatively, starting from 11th of April, 2019 and the results will be announced on 23rd of May, 2019. The Power of Social Media

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always believed in social media, the clarification to which is, BJP having a separate IT cell for its advertisements on social media, including Facebook. Along with BJP, most of the other parties have now started to understand the importance of social media and have merely started to invest in advertisements on social media.

Facebook’s total ad spend

It is not at all surprising that BJP has been heading the list of the parties which have spent the most for Facebook advertisements, with over 50 percent of the total ad spend of Facebook amounting to approximately 2.37 crore. The Brand Building

It is explicitly evident that no party can compete with BJP, at least in the parameter of brand building. The party has used the social media platform since the beginning to hold its position in the public and will also spend 20-25 percent of the party’s total ad spend by the time campaigning is over.

Facebook’s discretion is Necessary

In December, last year, Facebook launched the authorization process, to which all political advertisement has to abide by. Facebook has toughened the rules for governing the political advertisements in India to create more transparency and display the details of their publishers.
