People Are Expressing Anger Over Video Showing Delivery Boy Taking Food, Zomato Responds

Zomato has the knack for making news, whether they advertise using controversial billboards or when they tweet witty replies to celebrities like Janhi Kapoor, the brand knows how to maintain their popularity on social media. Sadly, this time the online food ordering startup is involved in something that is raising questions towards the quality of food customers get.

A video showing of one of its food delivery boys wearing a Zomato t-shirt carrying a company delivery bag and consuming food out of its boxed orders appeared on social media recently. In the video, the delivery was seen eating from the bag he had on his vehicle resealing the packages and putting them back into the delivery bag which was likely to be delivered. After getting to know this, users on social media have expressed their anger while some are arguing that it can be his own food also. Below you can watch the complete video we are writing about:

Talking about the video, Zomato in its blogpost said that the whole matter will be investigated internally. Believing this as a ‘rare and unusual case’, Zomato said that it will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes and other precautionary measures to ensure safeguards against this.

Zomato on Tuesday added that the incident happened in Madurai.

“We have found that the video was shot in Madurai; the person in the video is a delivery partner on our fleet. We have spoken to him at length – and while we understand that this was a human error in judgement, have taken him off the platform,”

said Zomato.

“Additionally we will educate our delivery fleet of over 1.5 lakh partners to highlight or escalate any such deviations, while also encouraging our users, the custodians of our platform, to highlight the smallest anomalies,” the statement read.
