BCCL (The Times Of India) Appoints Ruchira Kanwal As Business Head – 1838

BCCL (The Times Of India) Appoints Ruchira Kanwal As Business Head – 1838

BCCL (The Times of India) has announced two senior leadership appointments, naming Ruchira Kanwal as Business Head – 1838 and Madhurita Sengupta as Head – ET Product, Marketing & Events for The Economic Times brand.

Kanwal brings over 20 years of experience in building premium brands across fashion, weddings, travel and hospitality. She joins BCCL (The Times of India) from RPSG Media, where she most recently served as Business Head. Prior to that, she held leadership roles at Condé Nast India, driving business strategy across its luxury and lifestyle portfolio, and began her career with The Oberoi Group.

As Business Head – 1838, Kanwal will lead the development and growth of the platform, working across community, events, media, magazines, partnerships and experiences to establish it as a scalable premium business and cultural platform within BCCL (The Times of India).

BCCL (The Times of India) has also appointed Madhurita Sengupta as Head – ET Product, Marketing & Events for The Economic Times brand. She joins from JioBlackRock Investment Advisers, where she served as Chief Marketing Officer.

Sengupta brings more than 20 years of experience across financial services, technology and telecommunications. Before JioBlackRock, she led Digital Sales for the SMB Business at Amazon Web Services (India & SAARC) and has previously held leadership positions at DBS Bank, Vodafone India and HSBC, overseeing product strategy, marketing, customer growth, digital transformation and revenue initiatives.

In her new role, Sengupta will oversee the conceptualisation, development, marketing and execution of The Economic Times’ products and events. She will also focus on creating new monetisation opportunities, driving brand growth, deepening reader engagement and strengthening advertiser relationships through marketing-led initiatives.

Kanwal holds an MBA in Marketing from NMIMS, Mumbai, while Sengupta holds an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University. The appointments underscore BCCL’s focus on strengthening leadership across its premium lifestyle and business media businesses.
