Kyoko Matsushita has stepped in as CEO of WPP Creative APAC at WPP, where she has been overseeing the network of agencies including VML, Ogilvy, Burson, AKQA, Landor, and Design Bridge and Partners.
She has shared the update via a LinkedIn post, announcing her new role and outlining her focus on collaborating with teams across APAC to drive innovation, growth and creative transformation.
Prior to this, she was serving at WPP since June 2022 as Chief Executive Officer, WPP Japan. Before this, she served as Global Chief Executive Officer at Essence from August 2019 to August 2022, after initially joining as APAC CEO from August 2014 to May 2019, leading the agency’s expansion across markets and overseeing global operations.
Earlier, she was Vice-President, Mobile Game Studio at GREE International from January 2011 to December 2013 in London. Between October 2010 and December 2012, she has pursued an MSc at London School of Economics and Political Science while also working on consultancy projects including a global mobile service rollout strategy with Sony HQ.
She has also held the role of Senior Marketing Manager, EMEA/APAC at Electronic Arts from March 2007 to December 2010. Prior to that, she was Senior Manager, EMEA Mobile Products at Sony from May 2002 to April 2006. She began her career at Leo Burnett (now Leo), where she worked from 1995 to 2001 across Chicago, Frankfurt and Tokyo, eventually serving as Global Client Director and handling clients including Coca-Cola, Disney and Citibank.
