Deepinder Goyal has announced that LAT Aerospace has acquired Sharang Shakti, an early-stage defence robotics startup based in Gurgaon. The acquisition has marked LAT’s first move toward building indigenous defence capabilities alongside its long-term mission of developing next-generation civil aviation platforms from India.
The company has said that civil aviation and defence are often viewed as separate sectors, but the core technology stack has remained shared across autonomy, perception, sensing, navigation, guidance, and control systems.
By bringing Sharang Shakti into LAT Aerospace, the company has stated that it is building these capabilities in-house from first principles. It has added that the intent is to deploy these technologies across both defence and civil programmes over time.
The development signals LAT Aerospace’s gradual expansion into defence-linked innovation while continuing to focus on its broader aviation ambitions.
