Amazon Has Launched A E-Commerce Site Which Recommends Products Based On Your Likes & Dislikes

Amazon seems to be unstoppable right now as it is trying to expand in the e-commerce with innovative ideas. Normally, if you buy a product from Amazon, it will start showing similar products to make it easier for you to find and buy your favourite products.

About Scout

Working on a similar model, Amazon is testing its new e-commerce platform called Scout, which firstly shows a bunch of items to users and asks them if they like them or not. Users have two options to rate products- a thumbs up or thumbs down. According to the thumbs ups, the recommendations change in real-time. Scout UI seems to be very simple yet attractive to the online users and it will make the decision of buying products easier than ever. Currently, there are products from home category mainly-furniture, home decor items, and shoes but Amazon is planning to add categories like fashion and toys also.

If you have used Pinterest, you will find using Scout pretty similar. Each item has a thumbs up and thumbs down option and clicking thumbs up changes some of the nearby items while picking thumbs down removes that product from the list.

Why Scout?

Experts believe that this platform is a result of the popularity of social media and Facebook aggressive marketing strategies to expand its business with Marketplace. Instagram is now integrating e-commerce right into its app. Both these platforms can easily collect data from the likes and shares of users and show them products accordingly.

These are actually early days for the newer forms of e-commerce in India but eventually, such concepts will gain popularity. It will be interesting to see how customers react to this change as there are chances that in the race of going innovative, companies will end up in making something too complex for the Indian market.
