After Transforming FCB Group India’s ‘Creative Reputation’ & Leaving An ‘Indelible’ Mark, Rohit Ohri Retires

After being appointed with one single mandate- to transform the creative agency’s reputation and doing so righteously, while leaving an ‘indelible mark’ in the past eight years, Rohit Ohri who transitioned from the role of FCB Group India CEO to Global Partner at FCB in September 2023, has now decided to take retirement from the agency.

In September 2023, he was succeeded by Dheeraj Sinha, Former Co-CEO of Leo Burnett and Chairman, BBH India, who took over the reigns of FCB Group India from Ohri, with a vision to lead the group’s next chapter.

During his eight years long stint at the company, the Group CEO who brought a duck with him to his office on his day 1, kept on adding lions, pencils, elephants and much more to FCB Group India’s portfolio ever since.

In fact, it was during his tenure as CEO of FCB Group India that the agency inched towards unprecedented growth and emerged as the driving force behind the successful acquisition of Kinnect (today FCB Kinnect), one of India’s leading digital-first creative agency and the creation of FCB/SIX.

Spearheading the creative transformation within the Group and leading the agency towards numerous awards and accolades, both on a local and global scale, Ohri’s last eight years with FCB Group India before being elevated to Global Partner role at FCB to bolster the FCB network and working closely with Global CEO- Tyler Turnbull, has indeed left an indelible mark not just in the history of FCB Group India but also the Indian advertising industry at large.

In his career spanning over three decades in the advertising industry, he has not just been revered for building and growing FCB Group India as a creative powerhouse but also adding an all new fervour to Dentsu and JWT (now part of VML).

Commenting on his departure or retirement from FCB India, Tyler Turnbull, CEO, FCB Global, said, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Rohit in India and in our offices across the world for the past nine years and can safely say his contribution has been invaluable. Not only did he play an integral role in helping FCB become the creative powerhouse it is today, but he’s helped set the company up to thrive for many years to come and taught me a few things along the journey too. Rohit is a great leader, and more importantly, a great person, so it truly has been a privilege to have him as part of the network.”

Summing up his time at FCB, Ohri, the outgoing Global Partner, said, “When I joined FCB in 2016, my mission was clear: to transform the agency’s creative reputation and make it future-ready. This mission was proven a success when FCB Group India was named Adweek’s International Agency of the Year, which was a moment of immense pride for my leadership team and me. It was a great recognition of the incredible journey we embarked on – producing work that set global benchmarks and building world-class capabilities. I’m deeply grateful to Susan and Tyler for the unstinting support they gave me and the India business. FCB is, and always will be, close to my heart, and I will forever be its biggest cheerleader. Now, under Dheeraj’s leadership, I’m confident the agency will scale even greater heights.”

Concludingly, Dheeraj Sinha, CEO, FCB Group India and South Asia, also added, “Rohit has left an indelible mark on both the agency and industry at large, so we want to thank him for his leadership and contributions to FCB and the industry over the past 30 years. His guidance in India has been instrumental in our agencies’ success, and we wish him all the very best for his future endeavours.”
