After serving the role of Head of Marketing (CMO)- India at Godrej Consumer Products for the past two years, Ashwin Moorthy has now assumed the role of Global Head- Category Direction & Innovation and Head of Marketing– India at the FMCG major.
In his new role, he will be responsible for leading category direction, innovation, equity and CMI teams for global categories across GCPL’s operating countries. Additionally, he will also continue to helm the company’s India Marketing function, P&L performance and business delivery.
Moorthy had joined GCPL as Category Head in September 2022 and was elevated to the role of Head of Marketing (CMO)- India at the FMCG major in November 2022. As CMO, he was leading the marketing function for GCPL’s India business and was also responsible for managing portfolio P&L and marketing investments across all local and global categories in India, building talent and capabilities in brand management teams, working cross-functionally to deliver business performance as well as for equity and advertising on local categories.
Prior to joining GCPL, he was associated with Unilever for more than a decade’s time and served across a slew of roles ranging from Head- Brand Communications (Nutrition) from April 2020 to August 2022, Marketing Manager- Coffee from November 2017 to April 2020 and Brand Manager- Taj Mahal and Lipton Teas from June 2015 to November 2017.
He joined Unilever as Brand Manager-Handwash in September 2010 and was elevated to the role of Area Sales and Customer Manager in November 2012 before assuming the position of Branch Customer Marketing Manager- TN and AP in January 2014.
Earlier on, Moorthy also worked as Media Planner at Mindshare for close to two-and-a-half years, between April 2008 and August 2010.
