Thailand Emerges As Top Global Travel Destination As Per Agoda Booking Data

The travel industry was the first to get hit during the pandemic. And it has been the last to revive as well. After a halt for almost two years, we are gradually witnessing the tourism industry finally take off.

People have been finally planning their much-awaited and much-needed vacation. After all, the pandemic has been tough on us all and a vacation is only reasonable.

While the countries have been opening up their borders for international tourists, the frequency of which any country has been based on the level of restrictions and protocols put in place since the pandemic.

A recently released Agoda Booking Data has indicated that the current top five preferences for people to travel to from India are southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore as well as European destinations such as France and Switzerland.

A statement from Agoda states that Indians are seeking ‘picturesque’ views, rich culture, and spots to enjoy the best of both worlds (mountains and beaches).

Interestingly, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore have consistently ruled the chart of top destinations standing out as the most sought-after locations pre-pandemic too (2019 Booking Data).

Within the country, the domestic travel booking data stipulate the lively metro cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai as the favored choices. It comes as no surprise that Goa continues to remain a prime contender, featuring alongside the heaving metros as the ideal beach destination to kick back and relax.

However, as per the preference of tourists from all over the world, Bangkok takes the number one spot in 2022. With travel regulations being entirely relaxed, the Asian city has been embracing the holiday season and offering the best of its nightlife, beaches, temples, culture, and cuisine to tourists once again.
